How to choose needs-management software for a nonprofit

Use a real request to evaluate a tool before moving all of your work into it.

Write down five essential checks

Can a supporter understand the request without calling? Can they sign up on a phone? Does availability update after a commitment? Are contact details private? Can staff export records and follow up?

Compare the full workflow

Look at NeedsPage, tools already used by your organization, and other needs or volunteer platforms such as Meet The Need. Ask each provider to demonstrate the same real-world example. Compare actual subscription and payment costs.

Include your staff in the trial

Ask the person who will maintain the page to create, revise, and close a need. Try a cancelled signup and a partially fulfilled request. The tool should make those everyday actions understandable.
